How can Lifestyle Medicine help you?

Lifestyle Medicine focuses on 6 core areas and takes an evidence-based approach to achieve healthy habits and a fresh outlook on your health.

They may not all apply to you but awareness and management of all 6 areas is very important.

Healthy Eating

It can be tricky to understand which diet is best for your health. Evidence-based research has shown a Whole-Food Plant-Based diet, lower in processed foods and higher in fruits, vegetables, legumes etc leads to a longer healthier life.

Physical Activity

Being physically active not only helps you maintain a fit and healthy weight, but also reduce your chance of chronic disease. It does not matter if it is gardening, dancing, walking or jogging, as long as it works for you!

Managing Stress

Acute stress is a primal and often a necessary physiological response. However, repetitive stress can contribute to the breakdown of many organs and systems. ​We cannot always avoid stress, but different ways to relax and combat chronic stress can be learned.

Controlling Excess

The damaging effects of alcohol and smoking have been well documented. Lifestyle Medicine helps to work out an individual plan for healthier choices and helps to limit intake of alcohol, tobacco, illicit drugs and environmental toxins.

Improving Sleep

Our sleep quality affects our appetite, food choices, exercise regime, how happy or grumpy we are, and all this in turn will affect our health. Lifestyle Medicine offers various solutions for better sleep, without the need for medication.

Maintaining Relationships

As human beings, we are social creatures. Relationships are essential for our emotional resilience. Lifestyle Medicine applies various techniques that can improve our overall health and emotional connectedness.

How can I help?

While I am a practicing NHS GP and a Certified Physician in Lifestyle Medicine, I will not be able to be your usual GP and you will still have to be registered with your own doctor.

If you think you have a medical emergency, please call 999 or go to A&E. It’s very important to realise that I am not able to treat medical emergencies.

Diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, cancer, chronic pain and headaches can be potentially treated and reversed.

Conditions I can help you with:

Medical conditions which are not appropriate for my services include: fever, chest pain, shortness of breath, suspected stroke, infections including new or suspected covid symptoms, bleeding, sudden onset of or severe headache, severe or new onset pain, seizures, trauma, injury, obstetric or pregnancy care complications, severe mental health conditions.
